A stylishly tongue-in-cheek look at the gender gap, RISOTTO gives us a he-said/she-said view of the realities of juggling career, family, and romance. Set in urban Greece, the film follows the lives of two families: fashion photographer Eugenia, husband/editor Filippos, and their daughter Sophie; and stylist Vicky, lawyer/husband Manolis and their two month old son. After meeting on a fashion shoot, Eugenia and Vicky realize they share the same problem: juggling career and family in the face of their husband's traditional macho attitudes. Frustrated at being torn between the demands of children, careers, and unhelpful husbands, Vicky and Eugenia decide to move in together to balance the rigors of daily life. But Manolis and Philip decide to prove to Vicky and Eugenia that men can also balance the demands of career and family with aplomb. Comic escapades ensue as both men realize that their lofty goal isn't as easy as it seems
at least until they can figure out just who's going to cook that risotto. (Synopsis by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival)
