HUKKLE does NOT mean hiccup in Hungarian; it is a coined word which
attempts to recreate how a hiccup sounds to an Hungarian. And you’ll
know why from the opening frame. This may be the most unusual film
you’ll ever see. It recreates daily life in an Hungarian village. The
main characters are human and animals, almost more animals than humans.
The film is virtually without dialogue; whatever dialogue exists is
barely audible in the background, while the sounds of village life are
foregrounded. Nothing happens in such a village, right?—unless it is
murder. Watch carefully for the clues. While HUKKLE is not an
experimental film, it is definitely innovative and will most appeal to
buffs who revel in new directions in filmmaking. It is startling in its
originality. In Hungarian (when there's dialogue). ~ Nick Salerno
